Lunge Variations
There is no ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ lunge here. All 3 variations are good options and can be used in a well rounded program. More important than where your knee is in relation to your toes is implementing a sensible progression, with graded exposure to all 3 variations.
If you currently have knee pain you can manipulate variables such as shin and torso angles, as well as speed of movement, depth, and load to work around pain while you address the issue.
